Description
Watch design and construction has changed considerably during the past 50 years. The old verge, fusee, duplex, rack and pinion, full plate, and similar early styles of watches have gone. The cylinder watch formerly considered to be the ultimate has given way to the modern anchor or detached escapement with double roller. Watches have got smaller, particularly in ladies' models, as well as thinner.
