Description
A Chinese ultimatum for the immediate cession of Hong Kong leads to blackmail and violence in a story that twists from Red China to a Conservative jamboree in Cleethorpes, from a Gurkha battalion guarding the New Territories to a pheasant shoot at Chequers. The realism and authenticity of both background and plot derive from the first-hand experience of one author as a diplomat in Peking and of the other as an officer with the Gurkhas.
