Description
When a young woman disappears, Inspector Henry Beaumont sets out to find her – not in his official capacity, but as a personal journey, undertaken for his own reasons where, tantalizingly incomplete, traces of her appear and disappear. Approaching the heart of the mystery, he finds himself deep in the English countryside. In a house on the edge of a tract of ancient woodland near the village of Nine Maidens, he becomes involved with an enigmatic family and discovers an age-old earth magic lingering in hidden places.
