 Hello, March! Winter is finally receding and we’re heading into Spring at last! March is a month of renewal and vibrancy, and we’ve planned a dynamic calendar full of new and exciting events that we’re looking forward to! March Selections It’s a month of many holidays, observances, and other fun events. From Women’s History Month to St. Patrick’s Day, the books we’re showcasing will highlight these coming events.  A collection of women authors in recognition of Women’s History Month.  Some Irish authors to help get into the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day!  A preview of some new books that will be out on the shelf this March. Art of the Month  This month we’re highlighting one of our local photographers, Wally H! Shown above is one of the pieces we have in our store available for sale: Naked City.Upcoming Events  Join Mad Red Books as we welcome Cade Meridian for his book launch signing event with a reading-and-discussion on Saturday, March 14th from 1-4PM. Join us Saturday, March 14th from 8:30-9:00PM for our Game-and-Record Night Event. Feel free to bring your own records to play on our turntable!  Join us for our Heated Rivalry Night Saturday, March 21st from 6-9PM in collaboration with our neighbor, Taco y Taco. There will be games, trivia, giveaways, and a lot of fun! What We’re Reading       Word of the Month  Let’s see what our 1685 Dictionary brings us this month. March’s Word:Cynanthropy, g. a man’s conceiting that he is a dog. A term derived from the Ancient Greek words κύων (kúōn) meaning “dog” and ἄνθρωπος (ánthrōpos) meaning “man” or “human.” Often associated with various mythological and folklore contexts, linked to shape-shifting abilities between human and canine. The term has been used since at least the late 1500s, with its earliest documented use in 1594. It has been depicted in various cultures, including Hindu mythology and European legends.
